Blue Star Families Goes Red on Pinterest
Recently Blue Star Families created a board on the new Pinterest site titled, “Blue Star Families Goes Red for Military Women." This campaign is an outreach to military families to fight the #1 killer of women in the US- heart disease.
As many of you know Pinterest is a new concept. In fact this concept of pinning only began just over a year ago and has grown in popularity - taking the internet by storm. With over 1.36 million daily visitors it is hard to ignore this very informative medium. But what is pinterest and who is using it?
Pinterest is a virtual pin board where you have your own page with many boards featuring your favorite things such as recipes, causes, health tips, fashion and more. But this is not just about your boards; it is about sharing your ideas with others and vice versa. You can also link your pins to your facebook page and share via other social media outlets. According to Pinterest, their users share the following characteristics:
- 68.2% are women
- 64.6% within the ages of 25-54 years old
- 50% are users with kids
- Average time spent on pinterest-15.8 min
- Annual household income- $100,000 +
