Crowdfunding for Military Spouses
Sprigster, the nation’s leading crowdfunding platform focused on assisting military veterans, announced today the expansion of its popular Boost a Hero program to help returning veterans as well as military spouses raise needed funds for projects of all types. During its launch period, Boost a Hero was focused solely on supporting franchise businesses for veterans. Boost a Hero is now accepting applications from U.S. military veterans proposing any type of crowdfunding project. The current Boost a Hero platform expansion will also allow crowdfunding projects by U.S. military spouses, an underserved demographic in the military community.
"Since starting the Boost a Hero program in February, veterans have consistently asked us to expand our crowdfunding platform beyond franchising projects and we are now ready to do just that," said Mark Mohler, CEO of Sprigster. “Sprigster has also been made aware of the unique challenges that military spouses face in maintaining consistent employment during the multiple geographic moves that are common for the military lifestyle. We want to assist military spouses with their own goals and we are excited to be expanding the Boost a Hero crowdfunding platform to accommodate this.”
Sprigster’s Boost a Hero program uses crowdfunding, a process whereby contributions are collected over the Internet from “the crowd” to cumulatively help fund a project – such as opening a business. During Sprigster’s beta phase, prospective veteran franchisees have used our platform to pitch their project to the public, and through pledges and contributions, raise capital needed to open their franchise business. Sprigster’s expansion of the Boost a Hero program comes after receiving broad support and acclaim for its initial beta crowdfunding platform. In April 2012, Sprigster was one of four companies recognized as a national Small Business Innovator by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Business Civic Leadership Center. >>> Click here to read the rest of the story and see a video about a vet who is looking to start her own business.
