FVAP!

The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) administers the federal responsibilities of the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). Its mission is to ensure that Uniformed Services personnel, their voting-age dependents, and overseas civilians who want to vote successfully exercise their right to vote, and that they are afforded an opportunity equal to that of the general population to vote and to have that vote counted.

FVAP provides U.S. citizens worldwide a broad range of non-partisan information and assistance to facilitate their participation in voting - regardless of where they work or live. It also administers the Federal responsibilities of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), which designates armed forces recruiting offices nationwide as voter registration agencies allowing eligible U.S. citizens to apply for voter registration, or apply to change voter registration data.

Unfortunately there are still challenges facing absentee voters. FVAP is continuously working to combat all these challenges in a number of ways, including improving the voter’s experience by providing greater support to the election officials, committing to smart, effective and substantial technology investment, and fostering relationships with stakeholders.

FVAP’s website, FVAP.gov, provides many tools to support the absentee voting process, including online wizards to quickly and accurately fill out the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) and Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB).
