It's that time again! Time to tell Blue Star Families the issues that are most important to your military family. If you are a military family member, veteran or service member, BSF would like to hear from you.
Blue Star Families co-founder and Chairman of the Board, Kathy Roth-Douquet, is testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee this afternoon. Her testimony on the challenges facing military families follows.

Today, April 1st, begins the Month of the Military Child. Throughout the month, BSF will be celebrating our littlest heroes with programs just for them. Kicking it off is an essay contest for military children with some exciting prizes, including a Barnes & Noble Nook!
Today, Blue Star Families released the full report of its 2010 Military Family Lifestyle Survey. The report expands upon the survey results releases in September of 2010. In May 2010, Blue Star Families fielded an online survey of 3,634 military family members to determine the major issues facing military families today.
Despite the stress of multiple deployments military families continue to cope, according to the 2010 Military Family Lifestyle Survey. The survey findings include insights into how military families are connecting, and the unique challenges they face.

The school year is winding down and my kids and I are having trouble staying motivated for homework while visions of summer excursions and beach outings dance in our heads. Even though school is almost out, education and military families continues to be a top priority in Hampton Roads.

The Department of Defense announced this morning that it is reinstating the popular My Career Account program that provided up to $6000 of educational benefits to military spouses. The program will resume this Saturday but only for those spouses who already part of the program. New applicants won't be allowed until the Department of Defense develops a long range plan for, presumably, funding and administering the program.
