Today Blue Star Families announced the release of a comprehensive report, “Unsung Heroes: Military Families after Ten Years of War.” The report, created by Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), is a compilation of studies and statistics on the state of military families after ten years of war. IAVA's report strongly supports the findings from Blue Star Families' 2010 Military Family Lifestyle Survey, including recommendations impacting military spouse education and employment, military child education, the effects of the deployment cycle on military families, military family financial concerns, and health care.
Military spouses, service members and veterans are invited to attend the free military Spouse Symposium & Career Fair 2012 “Keeping a Career on the Move,” co-hosted by the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and Blue Star Families, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at the San Diego Convention Center.
It's that time again! Time to tell Blue Star Families the issues that are most important to your military family. If you are a military family member, veteran or service member, BSF would like to hear from you.
If you haven't seen it yet, check out this appearance by Tim Daly on Fox and Friends from last week. Tim was there to promote our military family suicide prevention PSAs, produced by The Creative Coalition.
Even if you aren't a big fan of "The Twitter" you may have heard about the President's Twitter Town Hall happening today from the White House. That's right. Today at 2pm EST, President Obama, a Twitter newbie, will be answering questions from Twitter on the economy and jobs. Our Communications Director and resident social media addict, Stephanie Himel-Nelson, will be in the White House audience for Blue Star Families.
The Mil Life on the Washington Post's website continues! This week you can chat with Capt. Paul Lester about Comprehensive Soldier Fitness and how it can help prepare your service member and family by enhancing resilience and coping skills.
