Happy Holidays from our military family to yours!

There are many resources available for job searching, but I have found that the following 10 are consistently recommended by job search experts and human resource professionals which I have either seen speak live or read via Internet research and books. My gratitude goes out to those who fully immerse themselves into the many intricacies of job searching, without them this list would not be possible.

Today is mine and my husband’s first anniversary. Not the anniversary of the day when I talked my parents into spending too much money on a party, though. Rather, today is our first real anniversary — the first one we have actually earned.

Since her husband took office nearly two years ago, Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, has been tireless in her work to bring light to the challenges military families face. Whether she's traveling to the deserts of Iraq or to a stateside child care center, Dr. Biden is intent on one mission: boosting support to servicemembers and their families. As a military mom herself, she feels it's the least she can do.

Jack Black and Jason Segel have a wonderful new recording of The Little Drummer Boy out for the holidays.  But the best part is that the two talented performers are donating all of their proceeds to Blue Star Families.  We can't think of a better demonstration of the holiday spirit then to help out military families.

Hey Military Families - I think we can help…

I'm launching a website that offers webcam bedtime stories for families that are far apart. I was inspired to build the site because of my frustration being so far from my nieces - unable to be a part of their development and unable to be recognized when I would visit once a year. Well naturally, grandparents and military parents certainly share the same, if not greater, frustration!

Two comedy giants have teamed up to support military families this holiday season. 

Jack Black and Jason Segel, co-stars of the new movie Gulliver's Travels, have recorded a holiday classic to benefit our military families. The song, The Little Drummer Boy, is available for download on iTunes.

You know those wedding planners that you can buy from Barnes and Noble that have a month-by-month or week-by-week checklist for planning a wedding?  Is there any similar resource for PCSing (both DITY and military move)?  I know I really could have used one, since this was my first PCS! ~JG

The holidays can be difficult for military families.  We may be missing a loved one who is deployed and chances are we're living far from family and friends.  Luckily, Google is teaming up with Blue Star Families and Sesame Street to make communicating with your loved ones a little bit easier this year by providing a calling credit for international calls, exclusively for military families.
